Good points
It looks a bit different from the Golf, Focus etc, and the diesel is a good runner.

Bad points
My fiancee lost the key, didn’t think it was a problem as I had the spare on me. Got to the car, slotted in the spare and the car wouldn’t start – Renault’s excuse was that as the spare was never used it lost its electronic code. Twice the starter sensor on the clutch has broken. I went to put a roof rack on and found that the mounting points had temp screws in them – when I went to remove the screws the head of the screw sheared off on 3 of the 4. Renault said this does happen and you have to drill the temp screws out. The heat shield on the exhaust gets fixed every time it goes for a service but it still rattles. And now a warning buzzer has started going off every now and again when you turn off the engine.

Other comments
Buy a Golf. I changed from a 7 year old VW Polo to the Megane and had no problems with the Polo.
