Good points The Ford Maverick 3.0 XLT Automatic drives on road like a luxury saloon car. It’s very quick for a 4X4 and corners like a hot hatch-back. Motorway cruising is very smooth and quiet. High levels of standard equipment including leather interior, 6 stack CD/radio, cruise control and electric everything. Bad points Slightly bland front end styling. 25 mph. Other comments The Maverick is an extremely refined 4X4 with all round independent suspension and a monocock body construction. The Duratec 3.0 engine produces 200 bhp and a mighty 264 dn of torque. Ford have really got it right this time, they’ve purposely put a huge amount in to the on road handling and performance which reflect the needs of the vast majority of owners who will never go off road. A clever 4 wheel drive system switches automatically from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive when needed. Rating: 5/5 Leave a Reply
