Tons of capacity, good acceleration, totally reliable, comfortable to drive, and up to 50mpg. They are reputed to run forever – one for sale on eBay this week had done 330,000 miles! I even felt well-protected as I wrote mine off on Boxing day! By far the best car I’ve ever had.

Good points
The best looking and handling insurance group 5 rated car for many years. The lift-off oversteer is something else! Cheap to fix, great boot space. Sports interior and one of the best standard stereo systems for a car of this price, if you are buying second hand, you can’t go wrong, they are so cheap!

Good points
This car is so economical its hard to believe its actually using petrol. I am nearly six foot tall and I find the seats extremely comfortable no backache after a long journey, plenty of leg and head room. For a small car the cabin has been really well thought out, gear shift is smooth, the steering feels precise, plenty of spaces in the cabin to store maps, loose change, cd’s, the cd player has a quality sound, the whole car has a quality solid feel to it. The heater instrument panel will make you want to drive this car at night the red glow is so infectious. I find the road performance above average for a small engine car on the motorway, whilst you have to use the gears to get up to speed it does the business. Parking is a doddle. Excellent value for money.

The Peugeot 206 GLX has good initial acceleration and is a lot of fun to drive. Feels safe because of the weighty doors. Peugeot have added quite good stereo system!

The Peugeot 106 GLX is Great round corners as it is so low to the ground. Good acceleration and great on the motorway. More spacious on the inside than it looks and the backseats push down.

I have had my Peugeot 309 GLD from new for twelve years. It suits my height – 5′1″. It has been extremely reliable and I want another one to replace this. It hasn’t gone wrong so I have no reason to get something that doesn’t match up to it. My car is not a fashion accessory it is a useful machine.

It looks great and considering it’s only a 1.4 it has enough grunt to get by on motorways (good for cruising at 80mph). It’s steering is super light making for good handling and a fun drive. It’s great on tax and insurance so maybe worth choosing over the 1.6 if you’re on a budget. Air-Con.

I’d give my Peugeot 307 GLX 5 door hatchback the following rankings: Safety 5/5. Equipment Level 4/5. Practicality, storage cargo and passenger space 4/5. Finish 3/5. Driver and front passenger Seat adjustments 4/5. Trouble free replacements of faulty component/parts under warranty.

Good points

Engine is economical, I achieved 55MPG easy at motorway speeds. Acceleration between 45-70mph is very good, as the engine has plenty of pull. Standard interior spec is fairly good, sport seats, auto lights on, auto wipers, trip computer and the full electric pack as standard. Later models (52 onward) have front and side airbags fitted as standard. This models holds it value better than some other cars.

Really comfortable to drive, excellent all round visibility, stunning looks, very reliable and durable build. Very economical to run. Loads of room for family shopping and for child seats. Very safe and smooth running.
