Good points

The BMW 320tdi Compact has a very good engine smooth ride and economic. Motorway driving I get at least 53 miles to the gallon.

Bad points

I bought the car new on a 52 plate, and within 16000 miles the turbo had to be changed. I am not sure the cause of the turbo fault, but I have my suspicions. My car had received it’s first service at 14000, the car was returned to myself. Coming out of a BMW garage I did not find the need to check over the car and engine. I drove around all day until 3.30pm covering approx 150 miles. I parked the car in my drive. I returned to the car approx 15 mins later to find a pool of oil under my sump. Lifting the bonnet I found that the engine filler cap was not fitted to the engine and the compartment covered in oil. I phoned the garage who sent a cleaner to fill the sump and took the car to the garage, where it was cleaned. nothing else. This is why I think my turbo was faulty, starved of oil for a period of time.

Other comments

As far as I am concerned I was treated very badly by BMW, and very poor customer services. I still have not had a guarantee that my engine is okay. and no one seems to care as long as I have paid them the ?22500 that it cost . I will not be buying another BMW and actually thinking of selling.
